Dolce & Gabbana’s annual Alta Moda Collection fashion show is always a grand affair. But this year, the show took on an even bigger, culturally poignant role in runway history by honoring the legendary Sofia Loren. Taking place in the often forgotten town of Naples where many of her earlier films were set, the fashion house translated the authenticity and rich heritage of the city and the event’s honoree. Alta Moda was a worldly experience for the 100 guests in attendance who received the rare opportunity to honor the legend in an intimate yet lavish affair.
Garments filled with cues from the city’s rich culture were incorporated into more then 100 different looks; the largest Alta Moda Collection to date. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana adorned runway looks with rich embroidery, fine cross-stitching and meticulous details reminiscent of Loren’s legacy that elegantly unfolded her career through a fashion lens.
